Making the Green Sporty Desert Boots
I had the opportunity to take the Beginning Shoemaking class a second time on April 29th and 30th. (Side note: if you're interested in taking classes at the Chicago School of Shoemaking, sign up for their loyalty program on Flok. Sometimes there are screaming deals on classes.)
The first pair of shoes I made were a fairly conservative pair of oxblood desert boots that looked a lot like Doc Martens; this time around I wanted to make something that looked entirely different. I was able to use the same basic pattern as my first pair of shoes and follow the same construction technique, but ended up with something very different looking. I changed up the color, the sole color and thickness, the shape of the vamp, the stitch coloring, the lacing, and the laces. As you can see, it turned out very differently from the first pair.
