Making the undyed vegetable tanned low top sneakers
I enjoyed my previous sneaker-making experience enough that I decided to do it again. This time, I wanted a minimalist shoe that I could wear with anything. I chose a undyed vegetable tanned leather and ended up wetting the leather to manipulate it easier, especially around the toe.
I used a set of sneaker lasts to help the shoe retain its shape as it dried; this had an added benefit of widening the shoe a bit, which was great for my feet. Using a pre-made rubber sole makes the process faster but definitely isn't as comfortable as the custom-fitted shoes I've made in the past.
